(SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST)
Boston, Massachusetts
Hyde Park Seventh-day Adventist Church is committed to serving its neighborhood and greater Boston, Massachusetts as a community hub.
The growing Hyde Park Seventh-day Adventist Church moved into its current building, the former First Congregational Church of Hyde Park, in 2006. The Gothic Revival church building was constructed in 1910 by prominent Boston architectural firm Kilham & Hopkins, with stained-glass windows by Charles J. Connick Studio. Since purchasing the building, the Hyde Park Seventh-day Adventist congregation has invested over $500,000 in restoring the building to create a welcoming environment for worship and community engagement.
The congregation is highly involved in the Greater Boston area through interfaith and community programming, including a volunteer-run food pantry and soup kitchen, first-time home buyer’s classes, and financial literacy sessions. Community partnerships with the City of Boston’s Office of Food Justice and the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization have allowed them to build a strong coalition and advocate for the needs of their community.
A National Fund grant of $132,636 with $132,636 in matching funds raised by the congregation will support restoration of the church’s historic stained-glass windows, ensuring their longevity and energy efficiency.
